Let me amend that. When the people from NASA visited him, the gadget did
not work at all, and Rossi became very upset when they questioned him. He
does that. I'll bet if you asked him now, he would admit it wasn't working
that day. It often fails.

I said earlier that I have never caught him lying about the performance. On
the other hand, he has made many contradictory statements which I listed
some years ago in a digest. He has made many seemingly impossible claims.
Especially with regard to mass spectroscopy he does not seem to know what
he's talking about. I have heard that he does not do the mass spectroscopy
himself and he knows little about the subject. He is just reporting other
people's results. I know little about it myself. The more I learn, the less
confidence I have in people's claims.

Confusion, mistakes and misunderstandings are characteristic of
cutting-edge research.
