The LENR reaction may be caused by a long range effect that manifests inside or around the nuclear active environment.
All isotopes of nickel who have a spin = 0 are beta decay stable, and those that have a spin <> 0 will beta decay. This leads to the speculation that the intense electric fields inside the NAE affect the spin of the nucleus to trigger beta decay. The decay boosting factor may be electromagnetic. For LENR experimentalists, this would be an interesting slant on LENR research.
