Reading more carefully, I see that it was a "light-hydrogen" gas experiment. The light hydrogen part rules out LiOD (if it were an electrolytic experiment). And the gas part suggests that if lithium were involved, it might need to be an impurity in the substrate. But it would be nice to see the paper. Eric
