You need to realize this paper does NOT describe LENR. This is a variation of hot fusion. This is another way to produce the typical hot fusion process. The involvement of the muon ONLY increases the rate of hot fusion. Nothing about the reaction is changed except its rate. While the ambient energy is low, the energy being focused on the reaction is NOT low. The energy is contained in the mass of the muon rather than present as kinetic energy. LENR is characterized by the energy from ALL sources being low and by the absence of energetic radiation, including neutron emission.
