Gene and I looked at a variety of claims. As I recall, the only one that
seemed solid was Hydrodynamics. If it is real, I assume it is connected
with sonofusion, which Stringham and others have worked on.

I do not know of any reason to doubt those claims, but they were not widely
replicated and the percent of excess heat was no high, so I can't be sure
it is real. As I recall it was typically 5 to 7%, occasionally 15%. That
is, 115% of input. However, it should have been well below 100% since the
gadget was radiating enough heat to kill a person, and that heat was not
accounted for.

I will say, they had the most beautiful industrial scale calorimetry I have
ever seen, or heard of. Most industrial scale calorimetry is crude but this
was splendid. The system was designed by the Dean of Mechanical Engineering
at Georgia Tech. I gather he was floored with it showed excess heat. I
never heard what happened after that. I don't think he signed off on the
result.

The people at Hydrodynamics stopped looking for excess energy long ago.
They don't want to deal with it. It is trouble for them. I can well
understand why.
