It was awful! A nightmare.

Look at the difficulties of making a wind tunnel work, then add to that a
whole bunch of other factors.

HVAC engineers do measure the heat flow from forced air central heating
systems. I am not saying it is impossible. But they can only make a rough
approximation. That's okay; they have no use for precision. The room
temperature is precision controlled by the thermostat, and that is what
matters to the people in the building. The exact amount of air it takes,
and the exact amount of heat that is transferred from furnace to the room
do not matter much. An approximate answer is good enough to improve
efficiency.
