Some of the other details are in this post below, including the remarkable
coincidence that its 5.5+ year cycle is almost exactly half the solar 11
year cycle (which is not precise anyway). As for the doubling, we can
surmise that precession of EC would mean that we "feel" only every second
cycle. Because of EC's proximity to us - we often get more cosmic energy
coming in from this single unstable zone (nebula not a black hole) than from
the rest of our galaxy, including its several black holes.
Having slightly different rithms, the two cycles can coincide exactly
just "once in a while". Due to the variability in the solar cycle
itself, it's difficult to predict those coincidences exactly. But
assuming a 5.539 year cycle for EtaCar, and a 11.01 years cycle for (the
main component of) the solar cycle, they will coincide exactly every ~61
years (11.01*5.539). The next step would be to see when they coincided
the last time, and see if the difference with 774 is an integer multiple
of 61. That would strengthen the case for the hypothesis of an Eta Car
influence on the solar cycle, and (directly or indirectly) on earth.
All this is highly speculative, of course.
