We can do both. First world problems need to be solved, as do third-world
problems. First-world problems also make people miserable.

Giving first-world people thousands of dollars gratis will not reduce the
resources available for third-world people. Our technology no longer works
on a zero-sum basis, where if I gain, you lose.

Okay, some of our technology does. Oil supplies are limited. Wind supplies
are effectively unlimited although expensive to tap. Cold fusion will be
completely unlimited and virtually free. Computer power and storage is
free. Google gives you 4 GB of storage for nothing. 4 GB is probably more
storage than the entire city of Atlanta had in 1970.
