Perhaps a good energy accountant would be useful here.  If I were going to try 
to balance the books, I would look at revenues and expenses:


A. a good push (non-recurring income)B. gravity   1. up and down cyclic motion 
(a wash)

   2. potential energy from mass (non-recurring income, doesn't do a whole lot 
of good)C. friction (ongoing expense; from the bearings, the wind, etc.)


Non-recurring amount A will eventually be eaten away by the recurring expense 
of C.  In order for our AI to do any good with its intelligence, it will have 
to figure out how to tap into another revenue stream.
