Thinking in terms of particles give people a warm feeling, but the quasi particle concept comes out of the wave mature of matter. One concept that Mills does not accept is non locality of a particle's quantum properties.
It is analogous to a person that accepts monotonic music that is produced by one instrument but does not believe in the music that is produced by an orchestra. A collection of electrons can form a complex song rich in wave function complexity. To make this complex song of the electron easer to understand, the quasiparticle concept was invented. For example, photons and electrons can come together to form a single complex waveform called polaritron(a quasiparticle). I strongly suspect that Mills would not accept that this type of waveform is real even though a complete branch of science is based on it.
