As I said, it's not ideal, but the advantages in potential compatability/familiarity outweigh stylistic issues.
Also, I have a python script that creates vobjcets from XML and it was pretty easy to write, I haven't added it to CVS yet since it can't deal with authorization login yet due to some weird problem with swig.
Oh? What does this format look like? And what kind of problems with SWIG are you having? What is the status of the Python bindings, anyway?
