Then I'm arguing with the author of the ext2 file system.  His word is
not infallible.  It is an inarguable /fact/, not opinion, that
ANSI/ISO did not /create/ fseek() or ftell(), and thus, did not
/create/ the problem.  Allow it to live, yes.  But no one would've
accepted a standard which breaks 100% of code relating to file
positioning.
