just to let people know, i read that gcc is now in a feature freeze.
no more code optimizations, no more new features. just bug fixes and
optimizations of the gcc code itself.
3.0 is around the corner, meaning C99 will finally be available. for a list
of what C99 features have been finished, which ones are missing and which
ones are broken, goto gcc.gnu.org/gcc-3.0/c99status.html.
it's very exciting!! there's a lot of cool features. i note that some of
these features are already implemented as gcc "extensions". it's nice to
know that they are getting re-implemented in a standard setting, rather than
an extension which may behave differently from other compilers which happen
to implement a similar feature from C99.
