I don't know whether this will help you.
Try running as a root
fsck -y /home
If it is labelled as
LABEL=/home in fstab straightaway. It will correct
the incorrect table entries and inodes.
or otherwise if it is not labelled,
fsck -y /dev/hda* (the region where the home
is mounted).
shutdown -h now
and then restart.
