0.5.2 is released with wireless-tools version 29 for sure. It just that
I forgot to upload the package to 0.5 repository. They were uploaded now.

There is no plan to build the backported wpa_supplicant for etch, or
have to wait until voyage 0.6.

wpasupplicant 0.5.5-2
hostapd 0.5.5-3.1
hostap-utils 0.4.0-1
So the driver seems to be compiled with an very old version.
Question: On the compile platform have you installed still the version
20 of /usr/include/linux/wireless.h
or /usr/include/wireless.h of orig debian etch installation?
For compiling the wireless stuff this file should be update to the
same as the wireless tools which are compiled
I think (at least I did always this in the past)
And last question:
Do you have a respository for beta packages like new version of
wireless-tools with madwifi and hostapd/wpa_supplicant?
