At least I suspect it is smbfs that is causing the issue.
I found this article on the wiki which indicates it could be:

I'm not sure the article applies to smbfs as opposed to the full samba
package and it is out of date. Is adding the samba directories
mentioned in the wiki article to /etc/init.d/voyage-sync the recommended
'fix' for this issue?
