I don't know about your country, but in Canada it's illegal for a OEM
supplier to force a copy of Windows on you. If you don't want it, they
can't charge you for it. 99% of pre-built computers come with Windows, but
if you specify "No Windows for me!", they *have* to take it out of the
bundle; they can't refuse to sell it (the bundle) to you.
Or you can go the route I did and specify the parts I wanted my computer
made of when I bought it. I specified RedHat 5.0 Linux as the operating
system, and that's what I got.
