In Voyager, the images are decoded internally, but what happens in
cachebrowser when you double click on a file depends on how you've
configured your MimePrefs.
The cachebrowser is obviously in your case set to load something (e.g.
Multiview) that uses Datatypes to display the files. So yes, your datatypes
do need upgrading in order to view the file.
Voyager can obviously handle the file reasonably, so it can't be that
unusual an extension to JPEG, and therefore it ought to be fairly easy to
find a datatype that can handle it.
Alternatively, if you can't find a datatype, there are plenty of viewers out
there, one of which should be able to handle. Try Visage, it's always
handles most formats for me.
