I also installed this on Mac OS X (10.7.2) and it is works great.
That said I'm not an expert on this application. However a quick

I would check to see if your ike daemon is running. Easy way from the
command line:
[bash: ~]$ ps -ef |grep ike
0 58 1 0 7:11PM ?? 0:00.02 /usr/sbin/iked -F
or look for the process in the Activity Monitor.
On OS X, the iked service should start automatically, but it may not if
there is something already bound to port 500. If the ps command above
doesn't show iked running, a 'netstat -an' command could tell you if
there's already something listening on port 500 (like another VPN service).
