I really wanted the shrew vpn for its multivendor compatibility.

VPN Client is not provided to be installed on a server...

To check compatibility, I'd test Shrew on a standalone win2008r2 box,
since in a VM environment there is the added complexity of the
hypervisor and emulated hardware (among others).
