Is it possible to add some configuration item for Ubuntu with dnsmasq?
I'm trying to make a patch to resolv some domains using DNS server from
VPN, but I've found out that not trivial to autosense this situation...
In two words in this case I shuld'n change resolv.conf, but rather
call /sbin/resolvconf (or, even better, change dnsmasq rules for some
domains) and return all back when VPN goes down.
As for me the best way would be to add config item pointing to a script
doing all this work.
Hi Andrew,
I see that you posted a patch not too long ago to try and get iked to
work with the updated resolver configuration. Thanks for that. So if I
understand you correctly, it's difficult to detect when the new dns
resolver is being used ( /bin/resolvconf ) or the old resolver which
reads /etc/resolv.conf, correct? I wonder how other software packages
that interact with the resolver handle this situation? OpenVPN and vpnc
would have the same issue. Do they use a static configuration as you
suggest or do they use another method to detect ( at run time ) which
resolver is in use?
To be honest, I haven't used a system that is configured by resolvconf.
Which version of Ubuntu are you running? Did you need to install any
additional packages to get this behavior, or is it now part of the base
distribution?
Thanks,
-Matthew
