Yes - remove Shrew then reinstall it. As I recall I went down the same path, and just decided to remove Shrew, QT, and tuntap - then reinstall with Shrew as the last piece installed.

Hmm so Shrew was installed first and didn't work, then installed QT 4.7.4 and
TunTapOSX and still doesn't work, basically crashes on launch:

Shrew Soft VPN Access Manager quit unexpectedly.
Ignore Report Reopen

Any other suggestions?

Qt is maintained here: http://qt-project.org/

Beware, I installed the 5.x branch and Shrew did not like it at all (I'm
running OSX 10.8.4). I last upgraded in April to 4.7.1. The new 4.8
branch may work, I'd be curious if anyone gives it a whirl. Otherwise,
go to the archives from the download page for earlier versions.

Tun/Tap driver is also required, http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/
