Not sure if I understand your question.  Yes it uses init.
Inside the vserver:
ps -ef
UID        PID  PPID  C STIME TTY          TIME CMD

root     24496     1  0 08:35 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/syslogd
root     24509     1  0 08:35 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/crond
root     24514     1  0 08:35 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/sshd

ls -la /etc/inittab
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 604 Apr  4 12:09 /etc/inittab
