Wow thanks Nathan, really useful reply. It's not so much that I don't want
to touch Linux, just that I am really inexperienced. When I tried to build
vss2svn from source on cygwin it all went horribly wrong, so I gave up!

Having said that, I'm willing to try, and your suggestion sounds like the
best approach. I just did a wubi install of intrepid ibex and the build is
going much much better. I'm just stuck at this point now:

"ubu...@ubuntu:~/vss2svn/ssphys$ make
make: *** No rule to make target `svnwcrev.sh', needed by `version.h'.
Stop."

svn already installed, because I used it to svn export vss2svn. Where should
`svnwcrev.sh' be, and which step puts it there?
