There is better: go to "Preferences" and select "Auto place new widgets".

Now you can select the frame where to insert in the widget tree, then click
on a widget in the toolbar.

PS: I know, the phone is really cheap in the US but it's not the case
everywhere

Seems OK, but the list of available widgets might be rather long (with
all the libs installed...). Can that list look the same as the widget
toolbar?
But then, the toolbar is allready there....
