I'm surprised about he broadcom NIC statement! Those are the brand that my college lab has the most trouble with ... but it could be the distro they have us use. But they're in Dell computers, so maybe that's another issue (we've had issues w/ Linux and most of the new ones the college rolled out).
As for the quad ports, I recently put out a posting about Phobos P430 quad-port NICs, but no one responded. Do you know anything? I'm guessing they were zapped before or during transit b/c I have addressing issues with one during POST and the other is completely dead. I didn't pay that much for the both of them, but would like to get another one or two quad ports that work well in the hopes I can add a wifi card to my router ... making it a WAN, LAN, and WLAN box. Any ideas, wisdom, and stories welcome. I've not gotten around to buying any new NICs, but I do have a machine with 3 single port cards (1 WAN and 2 LAN).
