Good morning Hussein,

I hope you are well. Can you tell me if there is an easy way to allow for
shortdesc markup in the word file that gets converted correctly at build time?
The problem is, if I tag something as <shortdesc> it produces an invalid xml
file because the shortdesc is put inside the </conbody> element, not before.

So you want to convert DOCX files to DITA maps.

(topichead reference is found here:

To my knowledge, w2x never generates "empty topics".

However if the DOCX file contains something like

---

Heading 1

Heading 1.1

Some text.

Heading 1.2

Some other text.

---

then yes, w2x will indeed generate a topicref pointing to a topic file
containing just a title and an empty body for "Heading 1".

If you are talking about this, then the answer is: no, not out the box.

If you want to implement this feature, please modify XSLT 1.0 stylesheet:

W2X_INSTALL_DIR/xslt/map.xslt
