If you can wait until Friday, I'm about to release a new version of the OWASP Live CD which includes w3af's latest SVN release (r 2161). Beyond the other tools on the Live CD [1], w3af has: * both the interactive console & w3af GUI installed & working * a menu item to update the current install from SVN so you can keep the Live CD up to date with the SVN repository * the latest SVN version (stated above) * the steps to build the module are fully documented [2]
I'm scheduled to release what I'm calling the "Portugal" release on Friday - I suspect it will be ready by late afternoon/evening CST which is GMT -6. If you just can't wait, I've got a script [3] to add the same w3af install to the current release of the OWASP Live CD. Next up will be documenting installing the Live CD onto a VMware hard drive on the web site followed by the release of a VMware image of the Live CD installed to a virtual hard drive. Jump on the project mail list for updates [4]. I should have a beta VMware image available soon and it will be announced to the project list.
