Dave,
Yes the Spokane River does hold some fine trout. This time of year, you need
to make sure and fish it east of where you will be staying. Just down from
your hotel, Hangman Creek enters the river and it is nothing but pure mud.
As a result it muddies up the Spokane for quite some distance downstream.
Out towards the Wash/Idaho border, there is some good water but I haven't
fished it this time of year.
I am not an expert on the river, but I know somebody who is. Call the Blue
Dun Fly Shop at 509-458-FISH and ask to speak to Jan. Jan works all the time
and is pretty easy to get hold of. He can either give you directions to the
shop and draw you some maps of good spots this time of year or can give you
some directions by phone. He is the quintessential trout bum and loves to
share his knowledge.
I hope this helps and good luck!
