Wes, That's why I wanted to bring this to the attention of this board. I brought it up at the WFFC meeting last night and intend to contact as many of the other flyfishing clubs in the area as I can. Several members of the WFFC are looking into the situation and I hope that members of other clubs who also participate in of this news group will bring it to the attention of their fellow club members. Right now, I'm just hoping to stir up plenty of public indignation while waiting for the situation to be clarified with regard to the actual legal issues involved. I agree, Ebey's very isolation has made it a frequent target of poachers, probably less so after the DNR gate went in than before though the access from the spur road seemed to remain a problem. I remember one time last June when a couple of guys dragged a 12 foot boat down from the clearcuts on the west side of the lake. They were fishing flies but had rigged spinning outfits in the boat. I didn't say anything at the time, but I'm sure that as soon as my friend and I left the spinners or bait or whatever came out. In spite of the poaching, Ebey has been able to provide good fishing and some large fish without periodic stocking. I hope something can be done and I'll post any information here as it becomes available.
