Well I was going to hike into some high lakes with my dad this weekend but
he injured his knee and isn't feeling up for the hike...so I'm going to go
visit him in Sequim.
Since I've been planning on fishing this weekend for months (and tying up
lots of stuff for the high lakes) I just can't drop that part of my plans.
I want to try some saltwater flyfishing in the Straits near Sequim.
I've only fished the salt once, and that was in the Hood Canal. I was
trying for SRCs and only found steelhead smolts (poor me).
If I do fish the Straits this weekend, I'll be casting from shore, or wading
in as far as I can....no boat.
What, if anything, could I expect to find in the Straits near Sequim this
time of year?
What should I fling out there for the fishes to look at, candlefish?
What technique should I use (strip the fly in on a sinktip line? full sink?)
Capt. Tom, Leland, Wes, what do you guys think? Any help would be greatly
appreciated, especially if it helps me get into some fish.
Thanks and I hope all the father's have a great Father's Day weekend.
