I might be the only listmember who fishes the COW on a regular basis (I know
people are thinking I must be nuts). Jere is right. Below Blue Creek can
experience excellent returns of Summer run this time of year- though it
hasn't been that great in recent years. The barrier dam can be a great spot
if the water is really low. Believe it or not, the crowds are not what you
think this time of year. It doesn' get butt to elbow until Fall. If you
go, recommend fishing heavily weighted black stone nymphs under a strike
indicator (right angle system).

If you want to get into some fish for the kids, try fishing the Tilton which
runs right through Morton. Excellent dry fly fishing can be had with tan X
Caddis, Elk Hair Caddis, or yellow Simulator's all size 14. There are
several spots along HWY 7 to pull off and get your line wet. If action on
top is slow, try a down stream swing with a yellow soft hackle (maybe a
small split shot or two). And finally, if the two above methods fail, give
a heavily weighted case caddis pattern a go. The river is full of caddis!

The fish in the Tilton will average roughly 9 inches and are really
scrappy... beware there are some bruisers in there. Biggest I nailed was 18
inches. And another word of caution.. in the Fall, Fish and Game recycles
Silvers into the Tilton- try that on a 5wt!

Wish I was back in Washington.............. I hate missing the Spring and
Summer. I am sick of the heat here in the Arabian Gulf. Yesterday was a
cool 105 degress in the shade. Not even July yet!

See you guys in 102 days...
