Just got back from three days at Chopaka, arrived during a t-storm
incredible light show, stopped raining 5 min. after we got there.
No more than three other campgrounds occupied!
Great fishing both in the A.M. dragging damsel nymphs over the weedbeds
than throwing drys mid morning till about 1:00 than in for a nap, back out
for more risers until dark then running BIG buggers deep in total darkness.
Way too much fun to fight big fish at night.
Fish ran from 12" to 21" and were really chunky a 20" I got both myself
and my partner estimated at 41/2 lbs. or better, many fish in the 16''to 18''
range and all were scrappy, also some smallmouth bass in the lake that
were good for lunch.
Had heard about big crowds on Chopaka but sure didn't see any sign of
them on this trip, we will be back in Sept. to do this again!
Good luck to all,
Jody.
