Hi everyone,

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday a few friends and I enjoyed the calm and beautiful lake Chopaka. The fishing was fairly consistent, which translates to about three fish per hour per person. My buddies were casting and stripping black rabbit leaches on a size 4 tiemco 105 hook with grabs practically on impact next to the shoreline. The method of cast and strip produced well till about 11:30AM and then Chironomids were the best producer of fish. I fished Chironomids almost exclusively and really did well from about 11:30 till about 4:30 with a size 12 black V-rib bug. The south end which has been full of fish the last several times there, was showing very little fish in comparison to this spring.I did catch several fish in the south end but when I moved to deeper water (14'-16')  in the middle of the lake between the camp ground and the fence across the lake the fishing really improved.  The fish generally seemed a little smaller(16") but the fig! ! ht in them was much better. We had the lake almost all to our selves with only four other campsites occupied. One thing that surprised me was the six takes to my strike indicator while fishing chironos with one fished landed, stabbed via a toothpick. No Bass this trip.
