Thanks for the feedback guys.  I gave you the short version so I'll
embellish.
    First of all the when two guys first got to the river, one of the guys
starts to walk in right below me in the best part of the run, when his
friend yells to him something I can't hear and he turns around and heads
upstream. Whee, I thank him and continue fishing.  When the second guy heads
out I thank him too and they just get in behind me and work down.
    I got the hit mid swing and knew I had a fish and pulled to the side to
set the hook and she jumped and threw it's head and the hook in about the
time it takes to tell it.  I did check the hook and it needed a touch on the
hone, so I could blame it on that.  Or as you said Jere it could be the kind
of hook, it's a standard steelhead hook.
    I went out tonight and saw nothing roll, felt nothing but the bottom,
and didn't see the other two guys do anything either. But alas it was a
beautiful evening to be on the river.
