No.  It was in August so we were having to go down deep for them on a down 
rigger.  About 65 feet or so.  What intrigues me though, is all the locals 
say these fish are literally right on the surface during the cool months.  
None of them fly fish but they all use these polar bear flys and fish them a 
couple of feet under the surface on salmon rods.    I figure there is no 
reason you couldn't take one of them on a fly rod if you put your time in.   
I hope to make a trip up there in the early Spring or late Fall one of these 
years and give it a try.
