No. Decorative wrappings add alot of weight to a fly rod and my customers have never requested it. They accept my way of doing things. After six or eight hours of casting on the skagit or sauk, or just on a lake, weight can make a difference. I also make alittle longer Grip for that very reason - I always start holding higher up my rod after about 4 hours. Anyway, for the Gentleman who made his first Rod without a rod holder, good, I'm glad you did and enjoyed making it. I made my first rod holder after about four rods. I used a glass, Dictionary and sat at the table and twisted the blank. I started using color perserver and varnish at first - before apoxy. I'm still not wild about apoxy as it will set in certain conditions when drying that you won't like. I have my own combination after several years of trying different combinations and it works well and my customers like it. Also, and I've discussed, on several occasions with 'Experts' on apoxy's, that it also requires a controled enviornment (Temp maintained about 70 degrees) My garage doesn't do it. George
