Ray Wallace's recent report of larger fish from Rattlesnake Lake was
a pleasure to read. But the 12-18 inch fish he reports catching sure
seem a lot larger than the 10-12 inch fish the lake has historically
produced.
Wondering if Rattlesnake has been stealth planted, I visited the
Troutlodge web site which confirms that it is indeed one of 11 King
County lakes 'qualified' for triploid plants under their CTEP program.
The other King County lakes on the list are Alice, Desire, Geneva,
Langlois, Margaret, Meridian, Morton, North, Steelhead and
Wilderness. I don't know whether that means the fish have actually
been planted in these lakes or whether they're on a list for possible
future plants.
Looks like the WDFW planted 1,985 triploids in Pine Lake back in April as
well.
I'd love to be able to have a shot at catching larger fish in local
lakes instead of spending several hours each way driving to central
or eastern Washington. Looking at houses surrounding lakes like
Margaret or Beaver isn't my ideal fishing ambience, but then neither
is spending five or six hours behind the wheel.
Can anyone confirm which, if any, of these lakes have indeed been planted?
