John,

When I showed up sunday afternoon, there were a lot of fish porpoising and
dimpling at 4pm, many more than the night before when we all were there.
They were also in loose pods, but definitely moving upcurrent as I could
see them coming towards me. I put out a #10 candle/clouser ahead of them
and am absolutely sure it was seen, given the plop factor and immediate
strip, which always works to fish that will take baitfish. I gave it some
small clouser strips while using the belly to pull the fly forward. After a
couple casts to the working fish, I switched to the crazy charlie and laid
it out into the seam, mended and let it swing slowly. There were immediate
hits.

I didn't see any euphasids in the water, but then I didn't look. I'm just
going on subjective "feel" and the fact that I've seen these riseforms
before. I'm fairly sure that we're in a transition time here and that there
will be more and more euphasids showing up. I may have hit a
time/tide/light window where the salmon keyed on euphasids that became
readily available. The next few days or week(s) will tell if they become
the predominate feed in the water and we get to play with salmon that act
like the most selective trout.

I'd love to know if you find the same or what.

Leland.
