A lot depends on where your folks are located in Tacoma. If they are
central or north end, you can get them a pretty good dsl all-in-one deal
from the local phone company. Anywhere else in the area, dsl lines are not
available yet. We're in the 'anywhere else' category so I use seanet.com.
They've been pretty good over the years at adding new equipment whenever
things start to slow down. Some neighborhoods have Click! which is the
local cable company but after a loud send-off, I haven't heard anything more
about it. Hope that helps a little.

Subject: Off Topic - Internet Providers?
I realize that this question is very off topic. But most of you live in
Washington and might be able to help me with my question.
I live in Minnesota. My "aged" parents live in Tacoma. For a long time their
internet provider was halcyon.com. Over the last few years halcyon.com was
acquired by someone else. This may have happened several times. Of late the
service and performance of the current incarnation of halcyon.com has gotten
pretty bad. My mother would like to have me set her up with a different
internet provider when I come out to visit in a few weeks.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Obligatory fly fishing content. The lakes in Minnesota are frozen solid. It
is still a month until the Wisconsin early season, and it may snow 6 inches
tomorrow.
thanks,
Mike T.
