May be a little early yet for the Stilly. Mid April to mid May is usually
peak with fish still spawning into June. If you want to try and get a
photo you will have to stick with the upper river to find some clear
water. The fish usually won't let you get too close but you might find a
vantage point where you can observe without spooking them. A telephoto
lens would help. Check out some of the water around C-post and up above
the Hazel parking lot. Above and below Fortson hole is another spot.
I've been wanting to take a walk and look for redds myself but haven't had
the time lately. Hopefully the WDFW predictions of a low return are wrong.
