Sorry about that. I didn't use jpeg compression. I also should not have
sent this as an attachment. For those who would like to see my offering you
can go to:

I agree with Wes that a bit of discussion would help the list members decide
on what they would like to see as a logo. It's fairly easy to make
modifications. I use Photoshop 6.

regards,

Keith

One of the limitations of email lists is their inability to handle large
file sizes. This is a necessary limitation, deriving from simple
arithmetic: 1 -1k file x 200 recipients = 200K of bandwidth; 1 - 100K file
x 200 recipients = 20 Megs of bandwidth. That's more bandwidth than most
ISP mail servers are willing to tolerate, especially when they may be
handling 100 or more email lists at the same time. The other thing of
course is that many list members still have relatively slow connections and
may have limits on mailbox size that can be severely taxed if they start to
receive lots of 100K attachments. To deal with these limitations the email
list software is configured to reject any messages over 40K in size. Sorry,
but that's a limitation we'll have to live with - at least for now.

I really appreciate the interest many of you have shown in developing a logo
for the group. This is an idea that has come up several times in the past,
but until now no one has actually stepped forward to undertake the task.

Personally (and as the list maintainer, who gets the bounced messages, I've
seen them both), I think both Jewelee's and Keith's designs are fine and a
credit to the Waflyfishers group and its members.

When the web site finally comes online (and yes, we really are working on it
and really expect it to come online soon - like probably the 1st of May) we
will have a place to share information like this. With a web site, members
have a choice of downloading large files such as pictures and graphics and
can do so at their convenience. This will be the perfect place to post
suggestions for Waflyfisher logos and emblems.

In the meantime perhaps we can discuss our ideas about what the Waflyfishers
logo should represent and what characteristics of the group are most
appropriate to convey graphically. Also, what design features are important
and which are not - for instance, if we intend to use the design as an
emblem or badge how do we need to avoid fine detail or too many colors in
the design? I don't know, but I do know we have some extraordinarily
talented designers among us. Until we actually have the opportunity to
display this creativity, let's have some thoughts on what we all see as
important in this logo's design.
