Fellow list member Danny McMillin and I took a friend's 2 man pontoon
boat over to run Bighorn to Red's as usual. Weather was overcast at times
with the water temp at 44, air temp in the lower fifties.
The brown's showed up around 12:30 and lasted about an hour. Caught one
fish wading up to a riser I saw. He ran off under a log and I lost him.
Saw another riser behind a stump as we were drifting down stream. That was
fun, saw him rising, laid the fly on his nose and bam he hit it a ton and
jumped about 3 ft in the air. It was a healthy 15" bow and he swam away
after I finally got the 18 march brown fly out of his mouth.
No other action the rest of the trip. I did manage to break my 5wt on
the first cast of the day. Second time this has happened when I've fished
with Danny on the Yak. Two summers ago Danny stepped on the rod in a mad
rush to retrieve a floating fly box. This time it just broke when I cast it
probably had a nick from a bead head hit or something. That is why I always
carry 2 rods when I fish. Last time it was the reel ( which has been fixed
by Sage) now my Sage rod goes back for the second time.. Hurrah for Sage...

Tight lines my friends,
 Charlie
