This is what I've always done as well. But I have never been checked either.
In fact the lady at Freds suggested it when I bought my license. I don't
like stickers on my vehicles. I don't see the point of these silly stickers,
they are going to come and find us to check licenses anyway. Maybe we could
start an online petition on the new website and solicit signatures from
other folks in WA that don't agree with these stickers. What parking areas
require these things anyway? What about folks that aren't fishing or
hunting?
