Here's a comparison to Idaho, where I am at in Idaho Falls. (Anybody read
the South Fork article, by Mike Lawson in the latest Fly Fisherman mag?)
That is just a short distance from my house and the boat, shown in the pics,
is the exact same boat that I have on order; even the color! Anyway, there
are some very, very nice boat ramps; paved lot with designated parking
spots, nice bathrooms and nice, wide, two boat ramps. BUT, it cost $3 to
park. We drove a spot car and parked the spot car at the facility at the
lower end of the canyon, also $3. $6 for parking for the day, or more days
if you are camping. When I pull into a parking lot my adrenilin and anxiety
level goes way up. I am always in a hurry to get rods strung etc. and get
the boat put in so as to not hold others up, or have to let others go ahead.
After you launch, and park, it's off to the "parking form box" to get the
form slip and fill it out! Just like in school I got a bad grade for not
filling in the form right! There was a warning slip on my window when I
returned stating I hadn't filled it out right! Once I learn the area, I
will find rough launches and places to put a spot rig, to reduce the cost,
but they are there, in numbers, checking rigs, cleaning BR's etc., everyday
during the season. Sure starts my day off with a nervous stomach though.
That's why I'm a fly fisherman. When I fished with bait, I was always
scolded for pulling in, casting out, not waiting for a bite. Never get
yelled at now. Jere PS Preston...I also get "flyfishing" mag. and revere
it just as much.....Cam Sigler picured in the lastest addition who I worked
with at Eddie Bauer.
