All you East side list members may want to consider hitting Amber this
weekend. It is really heating up.
I had a 2 hour break between classes and work so ran out there yesterday. I
hit 3 fish in less then 15 minutes on a damsel fly nymph. I literally would
just get the line out and row about 3 or 4 times and I would have a fish on.
Interestingly enough, the action went dead after I released the third fish
and couldn't get another strike on the damsel fly. I switched to a brown
wooly bugger and caught 2 more and lost another one. Both of the fish on the
bugger hit hard and took off on long runs. The first one was a 18-20 inch
fin clipped triploid and he made several long, hard runs. These fish are
going to be a lot of fun by next year! The second one was about a 17 inch
fish that also fought hard. Not sure if he was just a carryover or if his
clipped fin grew back out. I am guessing he was a carryover.
Grand total for 90 minutes on the water was 5 fish to net, one lost fish as I
was reeling in to go and one more strike. All occuring during mid day.
I may be hitting the St. Joe this weekend so will try to post a report if I
go.
