Hi All,
I have been away from the list for about 3 to 4 months due to computer
problems. I think I have my problems solved and will be posting regularly.
For those of you who may have forgot who I am, I will take this time to
refresh your memories.
Name: Ed Bleck
Residence: South Everett
Background: I was born and raised in Michigan, and this is where the fly
fishing bug (pun intended) bit me (and like I heard in a Jimmy Buffet song
"once bit the sting remains) The neighbor across the street was an avid fly
fisher and one day while he was out in his backyard praticing his casting I
asked him about fishing this way. Well one thing led to another and since
his own son did not take to fly fishing I sort of filled that void. He
introduced me to the AuSable rive in the lower penisula of Michigan and
where I caught my first trout on a fly. The following year I received my
second greatest thrill which was catching a trout on a fly I tied myself.
After graduating from highschool I enlisted in the Navy and ended up making
it my career for 23 yrs. I retired in 1996 and moved out to the PNW.
While I was in the Navy my fly fishing was non existant but last year I
decided to try my hand at it again (I guess the sting got real bad, I think
I even had a rash! :-) ) by venturing out on the North branch of the Stilly.
My year was not very productive (never did get a bite from a steelhead)
but I did love getting back on the water.
I am tying again also which I find is great fun and very relaxing.
Anyway, my question is "Has there been any sightings/catching of sea run
cuts in the North Sound in the past month or so? I have not tried this stle
of fishing but it sounds like a lot of fun and I am willing to try it. As
for the tides, which tide is best to fish incoming or outgoing? high or
low?
I haven't given up on the steelhead yet so I will be heading back to the
Stilly this summer and to see if I have learned anything from last summer.
It is great to be back.
Ed
