Circle hooks work quite well with certain patterns, imparting a jig like
motion to the fly.(streamers, bucktails, etc) However they work best
with fish that eat and run--not nibbblers or fish that are prone to spit
something out if it's not quite right.

First straighten out the offset, if there is any, with the circle you
are using. Second and most important--do not set the hook, since the
fish will have to do that as he pulls away. Quite a few applications
for saltwater fish and bigger freshwater fish. Not as many for smaller
fish.(since the way the point comes in and around prohibits tying
materials that will get in the way with smaller flies.

With any fish that grabs and kills it's prey and spits it out (some
spawning fish, etc) this hook will likely not work as it depends on the
fish trying to keep it in as the fish turns and departs.
