Vern Young, former (I believe) President of the Washington Federation of Fly
Fishers, uses circle hooks on quite a few of his flies.  Vern's favorite is
tied on a circle hook.  At a past Jamboree, Vern was passing out small sample
packs of these hooks.  I haven't yet tied anything on them but will sooner or
later.  Speaking with Vern, he says that his hook to land ratio is just as
good if not better that any other hooks he uses.  The trick is to let the
fish take the fly and wait a second or two before trying to set.  Good luck
to anyone who gives them a try.
