Sockeye On Seattle Area Beaches?

Heard a rumor that sockeye are being caught from Seattle area beaches by
some local fly anglers.  In particular I heard that a fly fisher has
regularly been catching sockeye at Carkeek park, early in the mornings,
using a small Clouser type fly.

Has anyone else heard anything about this - potentially exciting - fishery??
